Simple place with simple food for simple people like me. HOWEVER, they do proudly make their own sides... no frozen, store bought stuff.
I enjoyed their cole slaw and pasta salad. Nice people.
This cafe is my personal favorite. The cheeseburger is awesome, onion rings are the best, all the specials including the beans and cornbread, chili, chicken fried steak, and philies are great! If you visit one time the employees seem to remember you forever, and in some cases know someone in your family. Usually pretty busy and probly a good reason for it.
Down home charm with good home cooking. My husband and I tried breakfast here Sunday morning. A nice little trip up Highway 66, turn left at the light in Chelsea, there it is on your right. It's not a lot to look at, but it is charming inside with vintage "Route 66" decor, booths and tables. I got ham and eggs, the "small " portion, with biscuits and gravy. My husband got a sausage and cheese omelet, both came with hash browns. The coffee was a nice medium roast and was filled up when needed. Our meals came and my (REAL) ham filled half my platter. I'm glad I didn't order the "Large" portion! Eggs were cooked perfectly. The biscuit was large and SO fluffy. The gravy was your typical cream gravy, good consistancy. My husband said his omelet was VERY good. The prices were very reasonable. We came out owing only 16.00 and both had coffee! Now I want to mention our server. She was a spry older lady, who got around like a Spring chicken. She was so cheery and so thoughtful. She ran out with our sunglasses at the end, as we walked off and left them. A very pleasant experience, we will go back and try their lunch sometime.
